I can't believe what's happened in West Cumbria. We were up there today and went through just about the time it was happening, but obviously didn't know anything about it. Its awful to think that you can just go out to do your shopping and never come back.

Breast Cancer vaccine

What fantastic news, that there's a vaccine going into general use within the next year or two. They're saying women will be given it at forty, I hope they don't forget those of us (ahem!) who have passed that landmark birthday.

Lou, you've got a daughter. Isn't it brilliant to think her generation will be free of this awful thing?

A publisher is reprinting 7,000 cookbooks after a mistake which gave a recipe for pasta with "salt and freshly ground black people".

Penguin Group Australia's head of publishing, Bob Sessions, said the proof reader should have caught the "silly mistake".

He told The Sydney Morning Herald: "We're mortified that this has become an issue of any kind ...

A father who raped his baby girl and recorded himself on his mobile phone committing other acts of sexual abuse has been jailed for life, police said.

The 29-year-old, from Three Rivers, Hertfordshire, carried out what the judge called offences of "horrifying depravity" against his daughter when she was six months old.
